The Canadian Craft Brewers Association (CCBA) is pleased to announce that members have approved a merger with the Coalition of Canadian Independent Craft Brewers (CCICB) at the CCBA Annual General Meeting held on April 15, 2026.
This milestone brings together Canada’s independent craft breweries together under one national organization and strengthens the industry’s ability to advocate, collaborate, and grow.
For some members, this may be the first introduction to the CCICB. The CCICB was made up primarily of larger, regional independent craft brewers who were already members of the CCBA. Both organizations have worked closely together for several years, particularly on national advocacy priorities, including the recent extension of the 50% excise duty reduction on the first 15,000 hL of beer brewed for the next two years.
With this merger complete, the CCBA is now the unified national voice for independent craft brewers and industry members across the country, from coast to coast to coast.
What This Means for Members
This merger strengthens the value of membership for both breweries and industry partners.
- Unified voice that strengthens national advocacy efforts
- More effective engagement with federal decision-makers
- Greater resources through streamlined operations and pooled capacity
- Enhanced member benefits, including expanded national programs and tools
- Stronger industry alignment across regions and brewery sizes
Members can expect continued investment in national initiatives such as the Canada Beer Cup, the Independent Craft Seal, and new research and data tools to support business decisions.
Looking Ahead
This merger enables the CCBA to move forward with a new research-informed strategic plan, to be launched this fall, and reinforces its role as the definitive voice of independent craft beer in Canada.
The CCBA remains committed to its federated model, ensuring strong collaboration with provincial associations and maintaining regional perspectives in national decision-making.
