Canada Beer Cup Recognizes Outstanding Craft Beer Packaging with New Competition Component

The Canada Beer Cup, a premier event celebrating excellence in the Canadian brewing industry, proudly announces the introduction of its new competition component: Packaging Awards.

Designed to spotlight innovation and creativity, trophies will be awarded in four distinct categories: best single bottle or can, best series, best innovation, and best collaboration.

In an industry where visual appeal and innovation play crucial roles in consumer perception, the Canada Beer Cup Packaging Awards aim to honor breweries that have demonstrated outstanding efforts in these areas. From eye-catching labels to community collaborations, the awards recognize the diverse ways that designers and marketers contribute to enhancing the overall beer-drinking experience.

“The introduction of the Packaging Awards reflects our commitment to recognizing all aspects of excellence within the Canadian brewing community,” says Hilary Hoogsteen, Competition Manager of the Canada Beer Cup. “Packaging is not only a means of protecting and delivering the product but also serves as a powerful tool for branding and storytelling. With these awards, we celebrate the breweries that go above and beyond to captivate consumers. Great beers shouldn’t get left on the shelf.”

Entries for the Packaging Awards will be evaluated by a cross-Canada panel of expert judges, encompassing professionals from the brewing industry and design specialists, assembled by Packaging Awards Head Judge Amber Olson. Each submission will be assessed based on criteria such as visual appeal, innovation, and functionality. Shipping of physical products will not be required to participate in the packaging awards component of the competition.

The winners of the Canada Beer Cup Packaging Awards will be announced during the Award Gala (location TBA), coinciding with the main competition’s festivities. Alongside the recognition, winning breweries will receive widespread exposure through media coverage and promotion across Canada’s vibrant beer community.

“So many Canadian craft breweries have invested care in creating a package that best represents their beer, their brewery, and their brand vision. We are thrilled to showcase the outstanding packaging designs and innovation that they’re embracing,” says Packaging Awards Head Judge Amber Olson. “The Canada Beer Cup serves as a platform for fostering creativity, sharing best practices, and inspiring continuous improvement within the industry. We look forward to celebrating the winners and their contributions to the thriving Canadian beer and arts scenes.”
